Executive Recruitment

Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in becoming the Chief People Officer and Director of Finance and Resources for South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. I hope that you will enjoy exploring this website and finding out more about the role, our organisation, our achievements and our ambitions. I have recently been appointed as the Trust’s new Chief Executive, having previously been the Director of Finance and Resources, and I am committed to our Trust’s vision, mission, culture, and values. These are critical roles in the senior leadership team and I am looking to appoint values-led individuals who bring the relevant skills and experience to help us achieve our objectives.

As a Trust, we are in a strong position, and there is a good platform for our Chief People Officer/Director of Finance and Resources to build upon. We are a specialist provider of community, mental health and learning disability services to the 1.22m people of Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. Most of the care we provide is delivered in local communities by our 4,800 staff and we have an annual income of £275m. We also provide low and medium secure forensic mental health care to people across the whole of Yorkshire along with range of other specialist mental health, and health & wellbeing services.

We are a high performing organisation with over 87% of services assessed by the CQC rated as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’. We have a significant role to play in both the West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire Integrated Care Systems (ICS), working with partners in each place to integrate health and care services to meet the needs of our diverse populations.  Both roles will play a key role in the system as we look to collaborate with partners to find innovative solutions to meeting growing demand for our services and to support and develop our workforce of the future.

We need our new Directors to further our vision to provide outstanding physical, mental and social care in a modern health and care system and for our Trust to be a Great Place to Work.  We are seeking values-driven, inclusive, and strategic leaders who will support our workforce to deliver our services and help those who we serve to reach their potential and live well in the community. We operate within a complex stakeholder environment and both roles will quickly build trusted relationships with our Board, Governors, service users, carers, staff and our partners within the wider systems at regional and ‘place’ based levels.

We are keen to hear from inspirational, compassionate and inclusive leaders who are aspiring Directors, as well as those already operating at this level. With substantial senior management experience in a complex healthcare, public service, or other public-facing organisations, you will offer a depth of understanding of working in a diverse organisation delivering critical services across a wide geography. For the Chief People Officer role, will be creative, innovative and work inclusively to drive improvement, and you will bring a successful track record of achieving complex, transformational change and organisational development in partnership with others.

A modern leader and an exceptional communicator, you will quickly build credibility with our large, diverse and multi-skilled workforce and be comfortable and authentic in engaging with our wide range of stakeholders; inspiring all to deliver our workforce and OD strategies in support of our mission and vision.

For the Director of Finances and Resources position, you will be accountable for the development and implementation of robust financial frameworks, ensuring financial sustainability, and ultimately enabling the delivery of effective and safe services. More broadly, you be responsible for the Procurement function, IM&T, Performance Management, Contracting, Business Planning, Estates and Facilities Management, and being the interface with Commissioning for our lead provider collaboratives. There can be some flexibility regarding this portfolio depending on the experience of the successful candidate.

These roles represent an excellent opportunity to be bold and ambitious and to make your mark in a successful organisation with significant further potential at a critical time for the wellbeing of our communities.

If you would like to find out more about these challenging and rewarding roles, then please contact our recruitment partners at GatenbySanderson; Mark Bate or Emma Pickup on 07867 455223 for a confidential discussion.

I look forward to meeting you during the process.
